We’ve trained thousands … millions maybe, of movement teachers, fitness instructor, yogi’s, dance teachers, and even yes somatic trauma practitioners who are actually not embodied, and hence we have a lot of students, new teachers, and practitioners who have never been taught by a fully embodied teacher. It’s quite a mess actually.
There. I wrote it. It’s a mess and we need to clean it up. This has been on my mind this week, and really the whole year.
Have you had firsthand experience with this?
Either as the student learning from a disembodied teacher, or, did you get trained to teach embodiment/somatic healing only to realize you have to go back to the drawing board because you were functionally frozen or living in a high state of survival your entire training and didn’t know it?
The reason this has happened is because we did not know any better. But we know better now. We need to do better. We need better trainings. Better processes to add rigour to trainings. One must walk their talk and be exceptional at taking care of their body and all its parts and system at the physiological, emotional, relational, soul, environmental, and spiritual levels. It is all connected.
Time for the next level of teachers, healers, and educators.
